Guess What!

The sorting hat has told me that I am in…

Ravenclaw! Smile

And it totally fits.

In Plain Terms, He Speaks–I am channeling Yoda, here

Okay. So sometimes I am very stubborn and I take a while to do the right thing (I know, that’s not so good) (Smile) (Ahem, I mean: Sad smile) (Open-mouthed smile) (haha) (You know how I love parenthesis).

My friend Penni is going CRAZY walking for Trek! I am soooo very proud of her. She walks about four or five miles every DAY. She is such an amazing girl! She has been inviting (pushing) me to walk with her but I have been resisting. Like I am a particle whose velocity is pulling her forward, but her acceleration is declining in a negative manner. Calculus joke.

Today while I was reading my scriptures, I was seeking the scripture that says,

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
(New Testament | Matthew 5:16)

I thought Matthew 5:41! I was so sure that was it, so I turned to it to make sure. Want to know what it said?

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

(New Testament | Matthew 5:41)

Smile Heavenly Father must have known that I wouldn’t go unless He told me to. So He told me to in plain words. I love Him.

So I called Penni and now we are walking buddies. Smile

Mariah

He Sees You, He Knows You, He Loves You

Dear Penica (are you who know you) (look how tricky I am),

First and foremost, I have not been to your blog in a while, so I decided to find it (yeah, I found it.). I have to say, thank you so much for the post you wrote about a Mrs. M. Avocado!!! Really. Although you wrote it last year, I really needed that right now, today. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to look at your blog until now. Smile Thank you.

That being said. I wish you would blog again! I want to read what you say. You post honest and sincere posts, which are often quite poetic in nature. I read one post where you were being too hard on yourself. I dunno if you still are going through that one, but I think we have all felt that way before. Keep going. It is hard sometimes, but we are our own worst critics. We have to try our best to see ourselves the way Heavenly Father sees us. Yes, He sees what we could do better, what we need to fix and repent of, how we could have done something differently. Yet, He also sees your future, which is bright with endless possibilities. He sees the endless impact you will someday have on your future family; the children you will raise. He sees how you try everyday to be a little better, stand a little taller.

He sees you.

He knows you.

And He loves you.

Remember that one thing! He loves you. Sometimes when I get really down or I feel His love overwhelmingly, I think to myself, “Why? Why does He love me so much? What have I done to deserve it?” And then inevitably the feeling seeps into my heart as warm as the sun’s rays. “You are mine, and that is reason enough.”

You are His.

Just so you know. Smile

Love,

Mariah

P.S. Other people who are reading this: the same thing is true for you. Really.

I have been eating them.

Many bowls of Coco Puffs have been scarfed down lately.

I am getting sick of Coco Puffs.

Do I care?

Not all that much.

Yo Soy Mariah y Estoy Feliz

Alright. So I know that I need this time for so many important things (Yo se que me falta este tiempo para muchas cosas importantas) but I have to write on here for a minute!

Today has been wonderful.

  1. I have coco puffs! I never have coco puffs! (You see how easy it is to make me happy.)
  2. Heavenly Father helped me to see that everything happens for a reason, and that He will help me if I come to Him.
  3. He has also been right there with me recently. I am so grateful for this.
  4. My possibilities are endless! I can’t wait to find out God’s plan for me as I feel my way through the path of RIGHTEOUSNESS (if you can’t tell, I am a little super super happy (estoy CONTENTO Y FELIZ!) and I like parenthesis)!!!

The end. Smile El Fin.

Love,

Mariah

The End

(No, not the end of our blog.)

Since before Christmas break I have been reading the Book of Mormon. And guess what?

I finished it!

I asked myself if this was true. If it is, that is all that matters. And you know what? I know it is true. I know that all it says and testifies of is true. The Book of Mormon truly testifies of Christ. On every page.

Hey, it has to be true. I hope you know that. Everything that is truly good, truly comes of Christ. He is the one who brings the joy of the gospel to us, and has atoned for us. All the Book of Mormon is good! It has planted a seed in me. It must be a good seed, because it is beginning to grow. It is beginning to be delicious to me! (See Alma 32)

I love it. But I am still sad about how wicked the Lamanites and Nephites got. It came about by their willing choices and pride, and it is not unlike today in some ways. Something to ponder.

Just thought I would share with you. :)

Love,
Mariah

Who Needs Titles?

Today my USB cable broke on my tablet.

I mourned like I had lost a friend.

Because first of all, I have wanted a tablet since seventh grade. Seventh grade. I have had one for all of four months and I broke the cable at a most crucial time. I need it to create my artwork for FBLA!! I also tried to find a replacement cord on the Wacom website and all they had was a wireless component that is $40.00 which I do not currently have. I have like $0.00 right now. That is not true. I have $1.34. Just kidding. I don't know what I have but it is not $40.00. I went on eBay and found a cord (not Wacom but by some people in Hong Kong) that would get here around April 17-24th. Noooo! Too long. Ugh.

Yet.

The glass is always full. It is half air and half water. (hehe)

You know, my school has a tablet. And a better version of Photoshop. This will be good! And I can get help with my art work. Even though the natural woman in me wants to grumble and curse the world for this unfortunate happening, my Heavenly Father is reminding me that everything happens for a reason. I will grow from these things if I let myself and let Him teach me.

So. I will stop mourning and start staying after school. :) And I will do it with some pep in my step and a smile.

A bottom teeth smile.

Love,
Mariah

The Best Feeling

I started going to my dad’s house every weekend last year. I had this feeling that I needed to. It was right. I kept feeling tempted not to go. I also kept feeling I should go.  I didn’t know why until yesterday.

Yesterday, my brother was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I never thought this would happen! I guess I assumed he was not the LDS type. Was I wrong. How foolish of me! The Savior, I have learned, is for everyone. There is no ‘type’.

Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;”

(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 18:10)

I want to share with you guys the joy that comes from sharing the gospel with others. Last year we had a most excellent scripture mastery that I have always loved.

The verse above, and also these:

And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!

(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 18:15 - 16)

I knew this was true, but never before have I felt this most wonderful feeling in my heart. The true joy of bringing someone to the gospel! That being said, I don’t feel I can take credit for it all. I tried my best to keep my standards whenever I was at dad’s, but other than that, I didn’t actively do much to get him to join the church. He sought it himself. He asked for the missionary lessons. I set them up. What rapture I am filled with just knowing I could have a part, though!

I tell people my brother got baptized and they say “Oh, cool.” THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW COOL THIS IS. He will be the second priesthood holder in my whole family. The other was my grandfather, who died when I was four. I am so grateful to him for bringing the gospel to my family. How great his joy must be! Because of him there will be countless souls for us to rejoice with when we get home.

I am SO excited to serve a mission someday! This settles it!

Please, try your best to live the gospel wherever you go. Please, share the gospel. Refer your friends to the missionaries. Bare your testimony often. It is one sure way your faith will grow. Believe. Obey. Endure. Smile Good luck.

Challenge: Pray today and this week for a missionary moment. Whether it is a small hello and an extendation of friendship, a “wanna go to church with me this Sunday?” or a “I am sorry, but I don’t do that. It isn’t right.” You can be a missionary!

Much love today,

Mariah

You are welcome. :)

P.S. Shout out to Penny! (Name changed for privacy) Saw her today and haven’t for a long time.
