What a DAY

Today our school held their Service Day. It was so fun! I got to go to a local elementary school (walked there) to help with their Field Day, which is when the kids get to go to different stations outside to play some pretty awesome games. I loved to help with the parachute and the kickball. Not to mention, some of the young men were so cute with the kids! *Instant man points!*

I got to help Marilu, who was the most awesome girl ever. She has down syndrome, but that just made her even more awesome. She liked to pretend to feed me food. I liked it when she made me an icecream cone. I made sure to ask for sprinkles. :) She was hard sometimes to keep on track or to make sure she had fun, but she was so friendly, and I LOVED it when she was having fun. Her face would light up with joy and she would smile the cutest, cutest smile.

I enjoyed watching how the other kids interacted with her. Sometimes they’d see her, and I could see the momentary flicker of, “She is different from me. I am not sure if I like different.” But then other times I would see them wanting to hold her hand, or involve her in the game. One little girl would give her the beach ball over and over when we were playing volleyball—and she was on the OTHER team! How sweet. I made sure to praise her, which I think she enjoyed.

I got DRENCHED by the cutest little boy when we played Drip Drip Drench. I got to talk to him a little later, and he said to me, “YOU are the coolest High School!” He told me twice! ^_^

After that I ate pizza with my class, and proceeded to walk home.

I got to rest a bit, then went to visit some ladies in my ward. I felt very blessed to see the fruits of my friends and my labors. I thought they enjoyed our visits, but they told us this time, and I was so grateful we went. I felt sore tempted not to. But I did. I kept feeling promptings to go.

Then I talked to a friend I hadn’t seen for a while, and what a hard worker she is! I was impressed. She’s doing all kinds of yard work I never dreamed of.

After all that I went to visit another lady with my pal and we had a very swell time.

So then I walked my friend home, and started to walk back.

I thought as I walked how great it was to be a force for good in the world. It felt so good to make a difference in some lives. I LOVE IT!  ^_^ I was walking on sunshine.

That is when I thought of Miranda (I named her a different name for her privacy, fools), a less-active girl in our ward. I thought of how I had volunteered to call and see if she wanted to come to Mutual. I had a sunny feeling I should go see her, and invite her to come to Mutual. My yard work friend and I had even been talking about it earlier, and she really helped motivate me.

So I started to walk to her house. I wasn’t even sure which one it was, but I thought I knew. So I knocked, and it WAS her home! I invited her, and I think she is really nice. I’m going to call and follow up tomorrow. I am glad I heeded the prompting of the Spirit. :D

In all I walked 5.62 miles today (yes, I calculated it).

And I have made many new friends.

Love,

Mariah

P.S. BUT MAN, am I beat!

:D

Today was Seminary Graduation. It was so AWESOME! I loved hearing the different speakers, and I felt a renewed vigor to start going to the temple more. It’s so peaceful and so worth it.

I also loved seeing my friends walking down and having every one stand up to acknowledge them. I felt a surge of pride and joy (not the bad kind of pride. haha) as I saw some of my best friends walking down. I will miss them. It will not be the same, yet it will be best. They will go on to college, university, or a trade school. Many will be starting new families soonish. I have gone through many things with these people—all good.

Good luck, Best Friends!

Now I should go to bed.

I don’t like potlucks!

Love,

Mariah

Random thoughts...

LONG TIME NO SEE!!
You have gotten so old since I last talked to you!
Yes, this is Laura, and I am blogging.
But I would have you know that I haven't been not blogging because I don't care about you.
It's because I am hopelessly busy all the time!
I have lots of homework and stuff going on at home, and I'm doing lots of personal progress and ACT study. Also, I have made some amazing new friends who I love oh-so-much, who take up and unhealthy amount of my time. But I shouldn't make excuses.
I do intend to blog more. School ends next Thursday (not that I'm gonna go to the last days or anything) and I will have much more free time which I can devote to posting descriptions of my personal life onto the Internet.
I am at school right now, and I just finished my chemistry core test. It seems this is how many of my blog posts go... "I'm at school -- here is an update on my life like you care"
But beggers can't be choosers, so I will type about whatever I so desire and you will read it and be happy or I suppose you could stop reading WTCA.
I stayed up until 1:00 AM last night doing this stupid project for my child development class. There were other people in my group, but they decided that since they were already going to fail the class then they might as well not put any effort into this project. So I ended up doing it all on my lonesome. Twas very sad and lonely, but now I have a good grade and those other kids can flunk out of high school and work at Burger King for all I care.
Speaking of high school...
I am going to be a senior next year! O.O
That's bad!
Do you know what that means? That means there is only ONE YEAR until I got to college!
And that means I'm getting old!
Gosh, I don't like this business. :P
This is not a proper update on my life, but class is going to end soon so I need to end this passage. Perhaps I will find time in my hectic life to tell you more later.
Love bunches,
Laura

P.S.
Our blog is turning 1 1/2 years old on June 30. We should celebrate. :D

One Project Down

Today in photography my friend gave me some little lessons. She told be to take on each project one at a time and not get dazed by the amount of things I need to do.
These little reminders from others really help you see the world clearer!
So thank you! Even though this person doesn't read our blog!

Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

What have I done so far this morning?

I did a ten minute Yoga exercise, made a fort for my niece and cousin, got dressed and ready for the day, and blogged.

!

Oh, yeah, I am cool that way. ;D

The thing that makes it all the better is the sunshine outside. Although that sunshine is making me a bit more ready for Summer, which is good and bad. Good because I love the summer time! Bad because I still have school. Lately I have been forgetting I have school in the morning.

I hope your day is great.

Challenge:

Look for something beautiful outside and document it. Blog about it, write about it, draw a picture about it, take a picture of it, or paint it. Do anything you wish! And then once you have documented it, make sure you have FUN in it.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

AP. Test. TOMORROW!!! :S

FIELD TRIP!

I HAVE A FIELD TRIP TOMORROW, AND I AM JUST SO EXCITED! I will be going to a Digital Media Festival, I think…

I JUST KNOW IT IS

A

FIELD

TRIP! :D

I am so excited that I just needed to tell the whole world. And no world, you can’t come with me. Only the ones who registered can come. It is sad, but you can have your own field trip, okay? :) Go to a museum! Jump in some puddles! If it isn’t raining, get the hose out and make your own puddles. Then jump in them. Visit a new place in your town. Go to a store you have always wanted to visit but never have. Pack a lunch, take the family, your friends, or a good read to a park and have a picnic. If you dislike parks or it’s raining and you don’t like that, jump in puddles. (^_^) Or have a picnic in your yard.

That is all.

HAPPY MONDAY!

Affectionately yours,

Mariah
