Happy New Years
A lot of things have heppened this year, haven't they? From driver's tests to concerts, from Foreign Exchange students to prank calls, we've truly had some amazing times.
Personally I have felt my testimony and knowledge grow this whole year. I've learned about people from other nations who are just like me yet so different. I have learned stuff about myself that would have surprised me in 2010! I am looking forward to my whole life with out looking back. I will grow this year even more and expand my horizons. And I have faith I will feel true joy as I learn to rely on my Lord and my Heavenly Father. I look forward to the personal revelation I will receive, the people I will meet, the knowledge I will gain, and the fun I will have. All in all, I don't have to do it all in this year--my life does not consist of 2011. But if I learn young my life will be better later. (^_^)
HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!

Update On My Life
This is Laura, once again.
I watched Julie and Julia last night, it inspired me to blog. :)
Even though nobody except me and Ri and Ems read this, it's still fun.
Maybe I'll be famous someday and my obsessed fans will read this...
So here's what's been going on in my life recently:
School's good. I still have all A's, and we're 3 weeks into the trimester, so that's good.
I'm freaking out about the ACT, and studying for it like crazy.
I decided that I kind of like cooking, but I don't like eating very much so I do "service cooking" for my family and then don't usually eat what I cook. :P
Even though I don't really like eating, I do like eating one thing: BREAKFAST FOR DINNER!!!! Best thing ever invented... :D
I'm going to the school dance tonight... we'll see how that goes. I don't like dances.
The Mia Maid president in my ward is going to Germany for three months, which means I'll probably end up being president. I have BIG PLANS for our YW and it's going to be awesome!
For those of you who don't know, Ems, Ri, and I have another blog about the service club we started called We Are His Hands. Last week in seminary they had Be The Hands Week, advocating service, (which is, of course, good) but it looks like we ripped our service club name off of theirs! Which we didn't.
My house is freezing.
I kind of really like the color yellow. I want a yellow car.
I NEED TO SAVE MONEY FOR COLLEGE! AND TAKE THE ACT!
I think I might bleach my hair... what do you guys think?
Before I leave, I have one thought to leave with you.
Wouldn't it be an awesome job to be a food critic?
Think if it this way: people pay you to eat fancy, expensive food and give your highly-valued opinion on it.
Awesome, right?
Have a fabulous day today!

Long time no see...
This is Laura, your used-to-be-favorite Leatherette.
Yes, I know, I'm not your favorite anymore, because I haven't posted in like two months. But I have reason for that. :)
The reason is...
I'm sick.
Not physically sick, or anything.
But mentally sick.
I haven't posted in so long because I have a terrible, overwhelming obsession.
And that obsession's name is:
Farmville.
"Hello, my name is Laura, I am a Farmville-aholic."
I LOVE FARMVILLE!
It is like my favorite thing ever!
It is so fun!
It makes me happy! :D
While I am typing this, my farmer on farmville is planting peanuts.
Farmville is so much awesomer than your favorite thing ever.
People who do not play Farmville have not truly lived.
People who say that Farmville players have no life are secretly jealous of the Farmville players because they know that they secretly have no life and they wish that they were cool enough to play Farmville!
But, that said, I feel deep sorrow for abandoning the Leatherettes and blog-readers for so long. So, I will try to post more often and worry about my poor animals and whithering crops less.
I know that this is contradictory to my opinion, but I think it is hilarious!
So watch!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odBDAcOEKuI
"It's just like being a real farmer, only without the benefits!"
So, if you are a long-time blog reader, then you will know how we got the name The Leatherettes. If not, our very first post gives a short and extremely confusing and corrupted version of the story, so if you would like to be enlightened, then read it. But, pretty much, the Leatherettes thing started last October in a cornmaze. So, this year, on the anniversary of that day, Ems and Ri and I (and Kemyla and Shelby and Kitty) all went back to that same cornmaze and re-met the same people who inspired us to be called The Leatherettes! :D
Well, my Farmville is done now, so imma get off the computer and go watch Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Anyone know if that's a good movie? I asked my mom to rent a horror movie, and that's what she got me.
Go trick-or-treating!
Don't prank call people who are very close to you! (they can tell it's your voice... :P)
PLAY FARMVILLE!!!!

WORDY WEDNESDAY!
This is VOCAB Emma speaking! I am going to start a new segment to our blog. It is called "Words That Should Brighten Up Each High School Students Vocabulary" or WTSBUEHSSV...... I believe that we should be more creative in are schools vocabulary, so here is my way of changing our vocab status. I will now have words of the day and you may come and ask me my word of the day! :D I will also post my words of the school day each week on wordy Wednesday.
I challenge you to use my vocabulary just once in a week! Just see how vocab can truly change you life.
My WTSBUEHSSV so far: (and sentence examples)
Friday 10: Toil (Hard exhausting work or effort)
School is no toil because it brings me such great joy!
Monday 13: Frolic (to frisk around, behave, or play in a carefree, uninhibited way)
I wish to frolic in a field of daisies.......
Tuesday 14: Antipathy (extreme aversion or dislike) Now I am not promoting extreme hatred... BUT THIS WORD IS SOOOOO FUN TO SAY!
My friends felt antipathy towards my word of the day because I used it to much.....
Wednesday 15: Stagnant (still, unmoving, and without flow.)
The halls at school are REALLY stagnant.
Please don't have toil, do frolic in fields, don't have antipathy, and keep the halls non-stagnant....!

Children from around the world, sit around the cozy fire and listen to your crazy ole auntie (that’s me, Mariah) tell ya’ll a story. The story of Tabitha Jane.
Our story starts a long time ago right wherever you are today. For Tabitha, it’d be a day hard to forget.
It all started the day Tabitha’s cousin Andrew came over. He suggested they go out in the back yard and throw the old ball around. Tabitha didn’t much like that game because the old ball usually ended up hitting her. She agreed after some compromises (she’d get his pudding at lunch the next day) and they trotted along.
It just so happened that Andrew threw the ball a little harder than usual. It sailed past Tabitha and into what began the large forest. She hesitated for a minute wondering if she should go get it. All of the stories the older kids had told her started to sneak into her mind. Ghosts—snakes—wolves. There was rumored to be an old lady hiding in the heart of the forest who gobbled up little children. Of course, Tabitha didn’t believe the latter story. Who’d ever heard of people who ate other people?
“TABITHA! Go get the ball!” Andrew’s massive voice broke into her thoughts.
At first she ran, then slowed to a trot. Finally she stopped all together. She could see the ball just inside the forest. Tabitha forced her feet to move one at a time, and she focused on the ball. But it sure seemed to take a long time. After a while Tabitha took her eyes off the ball and was surprised to see that she didn’t know where she was.
Tabitha looked to her left—only trees surrounded her. She looked to her right—more trees. She slowly turned her head behind her and realizes she’s lost.
Just as she’s turning back, a scary old woman eats her. And that’s the end of our old friend Tabitha Jane.
That’s me being lazy with the end and killing her off—MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NO ONE CAN STOP ME!

Dreams....
TO: YOU
Why do I always write about my dreams... Maybe instead of this being "We the Three Who Just Can't Agree" it should be "Emma's dream Log". Just "tricking" as my adorable nieces would say! Well I keep having realistic dreams. Just this week I lost my calculator. It was no where to be found! So one night while I was sleeping I slipped into the world of dreams. It was a normal day. I was going around my house searching for my calculator! I FOUND IT. So when I woke up in the morning I had thought I had found my calculator the day before...... Yet to no avail, it was still lost. Then I FOUND IT IN MY BACKPACK! Which I had not even used but once! It was in a pocket I forgot I had!
Well that is all PEACE OUT!
NO SPELLING ERRORS! Or my spell check is not working..... Which do I believe more? The later.

Mariah’s First Day
Today was the first day of school! :S
We took a small tour of the school, met our counselors, took pictures, and met the teachers! I have to say I LOVE my classes! I have a multimedia class I am excited for, and AP art. I am a little scared for AP Art, seeing as how he wants us to create about 40 pieces of art for the year! FOURTY. D: But I am excited at the same time.
Ecstatic for Seminary! It’s going to be a blast. I know all of the teachers are great, but I hope I have a new one this trimester. It’s nice to be with familiar teachers, but it’s also really nice to learn about the church with everybody’s unique teaching style and abilities.
What a great song! My favorite part for some reason:
“Mister Sandman, bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a "come hither" gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace”
I think I like it because it’s fun to sing. Not necessarily because I want a “dream”. And one day I shall have a “dream”—just not now.
“I’M AWKWARD”

Recap of Summer
This message is approved by Emma.
What a wonderful, crazy, busy, blissful, and enjoyable summer! I have loved every moment of it. Today is Monday.... haha just so you know. Yet it is not just any Monday. It is the last day of my summer vacation! I slept in until 10:15! I haven't been able to do that in the longest time.
Just last Saturday Jessica, Kemyla, Mariah and I went to another concert! Oh do I love concerts! They are pap!
Haha one quick side note. Just a moment ago my house phone started to ring. So I rushed to the phone. On the caller ID my mother's number appeared. So I answered. I always say HELLO in a strange way when one of my family members call. I said my hello and then my mom said, "Ahhh hello may I make an order?". I replied "Um mom, this is Emma." Haha my mother had the wrong number! She laughed along with me and then she said goodbye. I love my mother dearest!
Okay well back to concerts! I LOVE THEM!!!! To be in the crowd, with a bright stage before you, while music engulfs you, the whole sensation is amazing. It moves you in a way no other element can. Wholesome, uplifting music can change your attitude. Sometimes I see the I-tunes best selling music and I feel disappointed. Some of the songs are shallow, scary and not worth your time. Recently I have been listening to small group singers, (not the big name stars whose music may be fun to listen to for 10 minutes). I love the undiscovered talent I am finding. Their music is pure, fun and real! I deeply appreciate their work! On Saturday we listened to a group called Truman. Two brothers that truly have talent! It was tons of fun and very pap.
You may be noticing that I use the word pap a lot. Well that would be true because pap is an AWESOMESAUCE word! :D
Well my life has been beyond busy the last few weeks..... It has worn me out! I am glad I had some down time today to write to ya'll.
Thank you for your support!
Emma
P.s. Thanks to all that voted on the dream poll! Yes I am strange but you must agree that I am also quite amazing and pap!
Farewell

Breaking of the Fast
Alright. So I’ve (Mariah here, the only one who finds time to blog—come on Leatherettes!) been on an internet fast for like a week or so, right? Right! I have been breaking it “accidentally” though. I haven’t been on Facebook! Maybe that’s what I should really be taking a long break from…
Anyway. Today I was looking at www.lds.org. What a great site! I followed a link to www.mormon.org/people. As I searched the website and found people JUST LIKE ME (!!!) (sorry for the random outburst of HAPPINESS) (But I am not really sorry because we all need a little more happiness) I felt so happy (there’s that word again!! HAPPINESS)!
I found Rose, who inspires me very VERY much. That amazing woman that she is! I found Ryan, who is working at a record label company or something—anyway his life stories are inspiring to me.
Hahahjshehehejhfajssjf I need to sleep. I was supposed to sleep A LONG time ago. It’s 12:36 AM now.
Whoops. 12:56 AM now. BYE BYE BYE BYE BYE BYU BYE BYE!

Take My Advice, Please!
So… Let me-uh-tell-yuh what happened.
I am a friend of Disney on Facebook, ¿si? Yes. Today they posted a beautiful picture of Rapunzel from the new Disney movie, Tangled. I loved it!
The only problem being her impossibly thin waist! What’s up with that? I voiced my opinion on how little kids take that image in their mind and want to be like that. All these people started to saw it’s “stylized” and “art”. Now, I know it’s stylized. That doesn’t make it right. As an artist myself, I understand the power of the pencil. Art can make people cry, laugh, love, hate. It can certainly change how one sees herself/himself.
Some people tried to tell me to “stop whining”. Now, I will tell the whole world right here I will never stop saying what needs to be said! :)
Now I will leave my soapbox. … To get on another one.
It’s okay not to be skinny! Healthy is good, but skinny doesn’t mean healthy. I wish I could tell those little girls (and even boys nowadays) that they don’t need to fit the mold. We can do whatever we want because we are just that cool. I want to tell them never to underestimate themselves! Even when some may tell them, “Dear, you’re just too fat.” or “You can’t possibly do that.”
BECAUSE WE CAN DO IT. Think about those things you want to do in life. Think about the things that make you happy—and live them. Do them. Be them! Be you! And don’t think of what others think should be included in ‘you’. This is YOU we’re talking about. Not Ashley, or Stacey or Brad Pitt! Not those girls who make fun of you! Where are they going anyway? You can’t answer that question because you don’t know. But we know where you’re going! You are going somewhere great when you are following your dreams and growing to be a better version of you with your own standard of the “American Dream”. We are the dreams, baby.
*sigh* okay, I am done now.

Mariah’s Rantings!
Today has been pretty good.
I got up at six thirty from sleeping on the tramp with my mom (she tried to sleep out there with only one thin quilt, and I had to teach her how to do it) and went on a walk. :) Morning walks are really fun. Except my mom and I kept getting “alien looks” from the people who were driving.
I quote from Ray Bradbury’s The Pedestrian,
“Sometimes he would walk for hours and
miles and return only at midnight to his house. And
on his way he would see the cottages and homes with
their dark windows, and it was not unequal to
walking through a graveyard where only the faintest
glimmers of firefly light appeared in flickers behind
the windows. Sudden gray phantoms seemed to
manifest upon inner room walls where a curtain was
still undrawn against the night, or there were
whisperings and murmurs where a window in a tomblike
building was still open.”
I HAVE BEEN WALKING WITH MUMMIES IN THEIR TOMBLIKE CARS—UNABLE TO IMAGINE THE WONDERS OF A WALKING YOUNG WOMAN!
I am going to see a movie tonight and maybe decide to charge my phone. Maybe… :)
Love, Mariah

Amazing Day
Happy Amazing Day!
Yesterday (it's 12:53 am) Ems, Laur, Yuriko, Nao, Ashley, Jessica, Mary, and I went to a concert, In and Out Burger, and Coldstone! Well on our way there... WE MET DONNY OSMOND. WHUT, YEAH--REALLY. It was so cool! We saw him riding his bike with his wife and son. Of course we turned around from our original destination and stopped a little ahead. Mary jumped out and asked if we could meet him because we have two foreign exchange students in our van. He stoppped!!! I didn't understand because I just saw him wizz by. Then Yuriko was telling me something in Japanese really fast and freaking me out! I didn't know what she was telling me to do! Finally I looked behind me and saw Donny Osmond over my shoulder! D: :D He was super nice, and we were able to take pictures!
After that we went to the Benton Paul concert. GREAT JOB, BENTON! And Jenn! It was amazingly wonderful. My favorite song Benton Paul sang was "The Devil".
Now it is 3:10 (I take a long time... because I leave and come back to write) am.
I am doing origami with Yuriko. WE REFUSE TO SLEEP BECAUSE SHE HAS TO LEAVE TOMORROW.
Goodbye, world.

Strange Reoccurence
This is Emma, broadcasting to you live from outer space!
Let us go back in time. A fair amount of time. Let us go to August 2009. Right before the beginning of my high school career! One night, after I had fallen asleep, a strange dream over came me. I was walking through the halls of a school that looked like a mix of the middle school and the old high school. Many peculiar things occurred. Yet the part that stands out to me most was the following. I was feeling quite sick so I called my dear mother to have her come pick me up. When she arrived and went to sign me out I decided that it would be a bad idea to miss the first day of school. So I apologized and asked if I could tough it out and try to stay in school for the rest of the day. She agreed and then promptly left. So I looked at my schedule and my next class was the History of Pumpkin Carving! How awesome but quite ostentatious. So as I was walking to the class room where the history of pumpkin carving was held I met up with Laura! We were walking and talking about our classes. She too had the history of pumpkin carving class. Then out of the blue, Laura's pocket began to ring. She took out her phone and said "Emma your sister Amy is calling." Her phone was my home phone that she carried around. I took the phone and talked with my sister. Amy went on to tell me that she had tickets to see the musical play WICKED and told me that if I left right then we could make it to California in time to see it. So I decided to leave school early and go see the play! hahaha I LOVE THIS STORY.
Now last night, while I had some sleep, I had a dream. Also about PUMPKIN CARVING! What is this madness? I was in Spanish class and the teacher told us that we would all grab a pumpkin. Our assignment was to carve the pumpkins. It was just like a test so he had us separate into different rooms. I started to carve my pumpkin and it was looking superb on the outside. Then I went to work on taking all its guts out. Yet to my dismay, when I opened it it was full of mold! I hate mold. I cry when I see mold. I am plainly scared of mold! So I stopped and refused to continue. Then my teacher came in to see how it was going. I told him of my problema (Spanish word). He said that if I did not finish carving I would flunk the class. Well it was a tough choice but in the end I carved the pumpkin despite my fear of mold. The End!
May all you have strange dreams of school and pumpkin carving!

Amazing Times
For two weeks my family and I have the pleasure of having a foreign exchange student at our house! I am so excited and pleased she’s here. Her English is limited, so I find myself gesturing when I talk a lot of the time. I don’t know if I will be able to get out of the habit! ;)
She’s shown me the wonders of origami, paper balloon balls, and fish (although fish is not that wonderful and makes my stomach curl).
Today she put an okata (spelling??) or kimono on me! It was so cool. I felt Japanese for a moment! I would not be able to wear it for a long time though. :S The Japanese have such a unique culture!
Today Laura, Yuriko, and I toured our city. It was great! HOT, but great.
Just a quick side note, I love prayer! Try it guys, it works.
“And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the devil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.
But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.”

See you later!

The Life of Emma
Just as I started enjoying driving, I recieved my first trama. It is quite trajic. Very trammatic since I am trying to become the worlds finest driver! So here is my story. I was driving down Main street for my second time. My mother was in need of doing some grocery shopping at our most local store. I thought I was turning into an entrance that came later when my mom yelled "TURN TURN TURN!!!". I reply "Wait, not this one." but with the confusion of the moment I said "OKAY!" and then proceeded to turn............... Well the turn was to tardy and I plundged for a cement barrier (just barely taller then a curb). So yeah
Well my slave driving sister is having me go paint. My mom is changing the whole house to prepair for the exchange student!!!! Woot. So I will continue my story at a later date.

What Time Is It?
PUDDING TIME! And also… ADVENTURE TIME! :B
Today I babysat for my cousin. I love my little cousin once removed! Except sometimes she does not listen… That’s to be expected with little kids. My patience is always tried. lol I am trying to be more patient, though. P: Emma, I commend you on your patience. You are an amazing young woman. Laura, I commend you on your ability to be logical and also reassuring! You are also an amazing young woman. Mariah, I commend you on you—oh, yeah, wait—that’s me. I commend myself on my fine sugar bread making skillz. ;3
I went to my friend’s cosmetology class to be a model for waxing. One of the first things she said to me was, “You’re lucky! When I came in they waxed my armpits!” I almost died because I did NOT want that happening to me! They just did my eyebrows and upper lip (yeah, because I have a luxurious stallion of a mustache >_>? C: ). It was fun. Didn’t hurt as much as legs (OLD FAITHFUL GEISER, THAT’S A PAIN I WON’T FORGET).
So… I shall leave now because my mom plans on making our whole family “intense-clean” as I say, because we’re thinking of our future Japan-child. :D
Much internet love as is possible,

Swimming+Sleepovers+Service=Summer
The other day Laura, Emma, Teyler, and Shelby and I swam the whole length of the day (really like, two hours) and before that Emma took Laura and I driving! What a swell driver she is. :D Swimming was fun except for Emma’s little trick she likes to pull on “new people”. New people like me! We found a dragonfly that was really cute but had broken it’s wing. :( It won’t live without a wing, but Emma is sad and wants to raise it back to health. I think it could be done, but may not be. Hopefully, though.
After that Ems, Laur, and I decided to have a sleepover. It was super great. We made the cutest cupcakes!
The next day Laura had to leave (sadness!). Kemyla came over and we did service for Emma and her parents! It was really fun. We painted, cleaned, and also we delivered cupcakes to great people! It was awesome. We’re doing service a lot more now for a new service club we are starting. It *may* be called Youth Getting Involved!
Have a spiritual Sunday!

GUESS WHAT!!!! :D
I HAVE GOTTEN MY PERMIT. (woot.... ehh actually I don't really care). I am now elderly. So I went driving, I received a headache. Driving is not as fun as my mom made it out to be, rather there is too much multitasking. I thought I was a good multitasker until I got behind the wheel. I would get distracted by the speed-o-meter thing (I don't know any car slang). My mom told me to stop counting the numbers on it. Ehh driving. Can I just have a hired chauffeur? Do chauffeurs come with limos? Just kidding, sorta, not really. I guess I have mixed feeling about this whole driving career.
COLDPLAY!!!! Tis wonderful! May be to your surprise, but one of my mom's favorite groups is Coldplay. I love the song Fix You, yet Mariah that reminds me of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! :D Just last Wednesday on SYTYCD an AHHHHHHMAZING BEYOND BEAUTIFUL DANCE WAS TO THAT SONG. It made me cry and gave me chills. GO WATCH IT! Ahh I just adore SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Oh and today it WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY! That means Young Women's and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!!!!!!!! WOOT! What a wonderful world!
Goodbye,
Emma Rose
Thank you for all your votes, I fulfilled your wishes I received the permit. Yet for that 1 lone person who picked "Hug a ton of boys" there is no hope for you yet. I do not know any boy to hug and I am not like Laura who hugs EVERYONE.
Spelling mishaps: nine.....
What is truly stunning about the dance is that both the choreographer and the boy dancer have moms going through a hard health time. I think it is so breathtaking how you can describe life and feelings through music and dance. It gives the whole world a chance to relate to each other when we watch and participate in cultural activities. It creates a feeling that we all have the same dreams, worries, and joys and connects us as one people.

I have found the magical wonders of Coldplay, Marina and the Diamonds, and Styx! I have been on www.pandora.com, which is a great site that sets up a free radio site for you (and any others if they are interested in your likes) based on what artists you like, genre of song, and other things you like. I like many more bands because of that website! It’s way cool.
I am loving Coldplay’s Fix You. My favorite at the moment by Styx is either Show Me the Way or Renegade. Marina and the Diamonds: I Am Not a Robot. :D These are so great!
Just sharing the awesomeness.
Signing off so I can have pizza,

The reply of Emma about Laura's dilemma
I most ardently dislike procrastinating. It is one thing that I shall never do. Not getting my permit does not mean I have succumbed to this awful habit. Rather I wish not to grow up. (So yes Mariah and Laura are now deemed elderly. So HA!) Yet this coming Wednesday, in driver's education, I shall be taking a test. If I am to pass this test I will be able to get my permit. So do not fret, I will get my permit, unless I happen to fail the test.
Just briefly I will answer my opinion to Laura's dilemma. I personally believe that Mariah's name should be shortened to Ri, with the spelling like so, for it would help end world hunger by not using the world Rye, which is like the bread. Which could make people hungry thinking about her name....... and such. For the children! :D Yes, I am practicing to enter a pageant. Okay, maybe not but I like to answer questions in that format!
Well farewell my dearest friends,
Emma, aka Ems, aka Em, or as in fourth grade M&m (pronounced like the chocolate delightful candy).

Learner's Permits!
This is Laura!
And I would like to tell you something very dear to me.
I would like to imform you that you, our blog readers, are my favorite people ever.
Why? you might ask...
Because anybody who cares enough about Mariah and Emma and me enough to read all the useless crap we write on here has to be pretty awesome.
So, just for future reference, if you are reading this, then that means I love you a lot. (in a not-weird way... lol)
So, I have had my learner's permit for almost a month now.
And I am very good at driving.
My sister says that I am terrible at driving, but I have never listened to her and do not plan to begin now. Because I know better.
I am an amazing driver.
I drove to ***** and **** *****, (names of cities withheld so then creepy people don't find out where I live and kidnap me...) and I drove super fast and in the dark!
I am an awesome driver.
Except I am really bad at steering. (because I'm used to steering 4-wheelers, and you don't have to steer them as much)
And one time I ran a stop sign.
And I always forget to signal before I turn.
And I get really scared whenever someone drives behind me.
And I speed a lot. (A LOT!!!!) (but don't tell the cops lol)
And I always forget to bring my permit with me when I drive. (don't tell the cops that either)
And I almost hit a dog and a family of raccoons.
But, besides all that stuff, I am a marvelous driver.
And I can drive a stick-shift. :D
btw, Mariah and Emma are a year older than me, but I got my permit before they did!
Mariah got hers the other day, but Ems hasn't gotten hers yet.
EMMA -- IF YOU ARE READING THIS, THEN GO GET YOUR PERMIT!! NOW!!!!
lol procrastination is bad.
I have a very important dilemma.
A very personal, emotional dilemma that will affect my entire life and thereafter. (jk lol)
I am going to share this dilemma with you, and hope you can help.
So, we call Emma "Ems" for short, and sometimes "Em".
And Emma sometimes calls me "Laur". (not sure how I feel about that one... XD)
And we often take of the "Ma" in Mariah, leaving us with just "Riah".
But, recently, I (maybe Emma too, idk) have been also removing the "Ah" from Mariah. That leaves us with just "Ri".
So, here is my dilemma.
How the heck do I spell that?
Do I spell it "Rye", as in the bread? Because that would have the correct pronunciation.
But I could spell it "Ri", as in MaRIah. But, according to the Engish language, that should be pronounced as "Ree".
So, if you would, please help me with my traumatizing dilemma.
We need to advertise our blog more.
So then lots of people read it.
Maybe I'll post the link on Facebook or something.
But not right now, because this post kind of makes me sound like a retard.
I'll do it later, when Ri/Rye and Ems post something interesting.
Have a marvelous day!
Give service!
Give hugs!
Don't procrastinate!
Get your learner's permit!

Me Sweet New Deals
Today I went shopping with my sisters! It was woooonderful! Although my sisters dragged me into Victoria’s Secret and made me buy underwear and when I picked some out the one with money said they were granny panties and I do not care because—well, nevermind. Then we went to Wet Seal and I found a cute pair of flats for only $6! Yeah, $6! Yeah, that’s right! What? Duh, $6! Didn’t you hear me?
As we were waiting for my sister with money to get done trying on glorious outfits, I got bored. They only had one chair, man! So I sat on this wheely thing real low on the ground. As I sat, I made my shoes “fly” on the little stretchy strap that holds them together.
I told my sister the following story:
These are my flying shoes! This morning they woke up from their bed on the wheely thing and flew. They flew and flew and fleeeew! (I proceeded to make them fly towards my sister) Then they saw me and spoke to me! *high voice* “Buuuy meeee! Buy me!”
To which I replied sadly, “I have no income.” :C
“Talk to your sister, Katelyn. She has aaaaall you neeed!” So I did just that and that’s how I got here today.
The END! She thought I was crazy. Not crazy… Just eccentric. WHUT, YEAH. THAT’S HOW I ROFL

Driver’s Ed, Just Like Emma
Emma I must agree with you! I was getting on (this is Mariah, readers) and I thought I would leave a thought about Driver’s Education. Let me just say, my eyes are getting deep, dark circles underneath them; my shoulders are slumping, my arms are drooping, my body shudders at the thought of the homework. My legs do not work anymore, they just drag as I pull myself up every morning. I cannot move my hands after the long hours of writing down answers to the long worksheets. Once, as I stopped that night (early morning, really) I could not pry my white fingers off of the thin pencil.
All through the night I toss and turn, dreaming I am in a driver’s course dodging cones and belligerent, creepy teachers. I dodge one bright orange cone—ORANGE FOR WORK ZONES AND ROAD WORK. The color changes faster than I can spit off the answers. BLUE—SERVICES AVAILABLE. BLACK ON WHITE—REGULATORY! I get caught up in the dangerous maneuvers I need to make and can’t dodge the teacher anymore. He flies like an evil Superman to my car, proceeding to hand me an assignment… 19,832 problems long.
Hahaha, just kidding. It’s sort of boring and long, but it’s fine.
Love,
Mariah

Driver's Education
Drivers education is bad for one's health. While this is sincerely a joke, I will tell you the reasons it might mess up your bodies condition. First, you must arise early enough to make it to the class and 7:00 in the morning. Well in all, that is the only reason I have concerning drivers ed and health.
I am so glad I was able to inform you of this matter,

EHHHH.... now I feel bad inside. So much so that it lead me to feel guilty for wanting a guinea pig. I honor my hamster too much to want another critter. SO I have concluded to not want a guinea pig. Now I want a FISH! I need it for life preparation!!!! Wouldn't you agree? :D

EMMA!
I LOVE Guinea PIGS!!!!
I am in desperate need of a guinea pig! YO QUIERRO MUCHO! I REALLY WANT ONE. Yet of course my mom's clause.... "if you get another pet I move out". I dearly respect her wishes... but I have this deep longing for a guinea pig. Did you know that they are not nocturnal! :D You can play with them when you are awake! Well I requested my wanting to my dearest mother. Guess what she said, well there is no need to guess, you know the answer. Well after a good discussion she said I may if I shared it with my friends! So I thought yay! We can have two animals to trade, but she knows how I think. So she added "You can only have one sharing animal at a time". So that ends my hope for getting a beloved guinea pig. BUT THEY ARE SO CUTE AND CUDDLY! Well, I am not sure if I should say this..... Well if in the horrid misfortune that our dearest beloved amazing hamster..... you know.... goes away... I CAN'T say it, it is to sad to think of such. Well I need to, this is what I need to say: I VOTE WE GET A GUINEA PIG! There I said it. Such a traitor, I know. Yet I DON'T EVER WANT OUR ADORABLE HAMSTER TO GO, SO NEVER MIND THIS WHOLE PARAGRAPH.

Books.... For real
This is what I was trying to write yesterday, when I forgot my thoughts.
Books.
I love reading books! In reply to Mariah, I most ardently loathe books that are disappointing. When I read a book I expect to get some growth and learning from it. So let me correct myself, I don't love reading any book, I love reading GOOD books, that change my life. At camp we were talking about books that we fancy. I told how I enjoyed reading "To Kill a Mocking Bird". My friend disagreed with me. So I told her she read it wrong. Everyone laughed, but I was serious. Haha. Reading requires more then taking in words to your mind. Reading is an interactive action. One should read, process, analyzes and try to get the whole story. Yet on the other hand, no one should put too much thought into it, for it can lead you to get a wrong message. My mom once told me a story. The author who wrote "The Giver" kept receiving fan mail about the ending pf the book. They believed that the end of the book signified death, or something. He would reply that he had not meant to have that connection at the end, which they had come up with. Sometimes I think people think to much for other people. Yet then again reading is also a personal task. Some people may get something totally different out of a book then another. So in all, read and ponder books until you feel you have gotten what you wanted from reading. Does any of that make sense?
Now I am not saying that my friend may not like the book. Just sometimes I wonder if she read it again, trying to get the true story from the words, then would she maybe like it as I liked it?
Well I am speaking on my soap box again!
Well, very well then, I am done!

So today I went to the dentist. :I Boo. But I have clean teeth! C: And they did give me a tooth brush. Then the dental hygienist thought I couldn’t hear her (I was listening to music) and started talking about how her hubby was stung on the bum taking the scouts for their swimming merit badge. I tried not to laugh, but the corners of my mouth twitched a little. It was also funny because the dentist looked slightly uncomfortable.
I also read a book titled How to Say Goodbye in Robot, and it was very disappointing. I read the first 100 pages then read the end. The end was not satisfying at all, either. Now if I want a satisfying book I shall have to go to Harry Potter or Hunger Games, it seems. Or Uglies. “Whatev”

Mariah’s Innermost Thoughts
Hello people of the world!
I am scared for the future. Are any of you? But at the same time I am not scared at all! I am so excited because I know if I hang on to what really matters I can be lifted above the filth and meaningless heartache that we find in this world. I can hang onto Christ’s hand and he can lift me above it all, then set me down in the place I should be. :) I like to think of that place as either the temple or the celestial kingdom and I will be oh so happy! Sometimes it is hard to really believe it can happen, and I doubt because of all of the temptations, lies, and foolish, carnal things in this world. But then Heavenly Father sends something into my life to remind me He’s not forgotten me and I better not forget Him, unless I want my hand to slip out of His. And that’s not what He wants! He wants to slip me right down to the Celestial kingdom and then dwell with me there and raise me up to be just like Him and my elder brother! But the way there is through my elder brother. I can only dwell with Heavenly Father through the Savior and through the atonement. To become one again!!
It’s so weird how things on this earth seem so hard to put away. I mean, we all have ‘favorite sins’ right? Something we feel like we couldn’t live without? In EFY once we talked about it. He said something like, “Ever notice how when we repent we put all of the things we can give up on a sort of table for Jesus? Like, ‘I’ll give all of this up!’. But we think He won’t see the thing we’re hiding behind our back. ‘Oh you can have all of this on the table, but this thing behind my back? Oh no… But look at all the other stuff!’ It just doesn’t work that way.” I can’t remember it all word for word. I think it may have been Hank Smith from Utah (You go Hank from Utah! Mmmmhmm) speaking… Anyway. We can give it up. I struggle with the internet. Seems weird, huh? It takes up too much time in my life. I used to go on deviantart.com all the time! Now I am totally stopping because some people post disgusting “art” and there’s no way to guarantee I won’t stumble upon it. It seems so hard, but it’s so easy! Boo for Satan and his filthy little whispered lies.
Its also weird how I can start out talking about something that seems like it could not be gospel-centered, but I end up talking about the gospel. Guys, everything is centered on the gospel. EVERYTHING. So don’t you make fun of me for bringing it home. :)
So I shall see ya’ll later!
Emma, I am so glad you had a great time! And I am glad you are home! Let’s get our permits A.S.A.P! :):):)

Wow Mariah! I am glad girls camp brought so much good to your life! Now I am anticipating for the great joys to come at my camp experience. At the moment I am actually packing for my girls camp. Unlike Mariah, I quite like packing! Especially with lists! I love lists! :D I love to complete lists and use check marks when I am done! Well, my life is on full speed busyness! I woke up at six, cleaned up my room. My room was quite a sight. I can not remember it being SO messy! I am in the middle of packing for camp and my vacation, of which I leave the day after I get home from camp. I miss my pool, I think I shall go swimming today..... yet do I have time? Ehh I will make some. I can make time work for me. Well when I get home my life just keeps getting more and more busy. What shall I do? It's is summer I should be relaxing, right? Girls Camp 2010!
Hello! This is Mariah typing. I just got back from girls camp this morning. I was very very tired, which is expected. How is it that at Girls Camp we can be so tired? one may ask. Well it all consists of careful proceedings. For instance, our door was left open on the tent and we were freezing our toes off all night (why we didn’t get up and shut it I don’t really know). Then we stayed up very, very late the next night. A few girls and I tried to think of pranks for the leaders, but they were all sleeping and way tired.
But on the bright side of things, the second night was testimony meeting around the camp fire. That’s always my favorite part. I listened to what each person was trying to express. I could feel how close the things they said were to their heart and their very beings. That it was something that had truly changed their lives. I felt the spirit that night testify of the love God has for each of His children. I find it so amazing that I can mess things up and trip over some of my same weaknesses, but that Heavenly Father still loves me. The Savior still loves me and has atoned so I could repent and be rid of the lasting guilt I feel. It reminds me of the hymn, I Stand All Amazed. (Check out the link because it’s a great song)
If anyone on here is searching for the truth and has stumbled on this page, please consider the divine intentions of the Father. That there must be a reason you are here now. That He is trying to reach you and wants to let you know He loves you.
I have a testimony that God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ live. They are not in past tense! They live! They do love you, and they love me. I know we are spirit children of our Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is our Savior. He atoned for us even when it caused Him so much anguish. Love overcomes all, truly. I do stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me. Often I am confused, and I can feel His love envelope me and testify that the answer is that He loves us! He was obedient to the Father and volunteered to be our Savior on earth. I do know that the only true church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that the prophet Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet today and receives revelation for the church from God. I have received this testimony because I asked through prayer what was right. I asked for His spirit to be with me as I read the Book of Mormon, as I kept His commandments and as I tried to understand. I have truly been blessed as a result. :)
I would like to close my blog post in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

LIFE and what it is all about.
Emma speaking. Again. Wow is it my turn to be the super blogger?
Well today I wanted to tell you about life. Plus all the ingredients it takes to make it the wonderful world of our being. Today, I guess, is the first official day of summer. At least that is the report on facebook. I have a horrid cold. Which is okay because I do not have to worry about school and I could have just taken today to rejuvenate. Yet LIFE does not always play out picture perfect. At eight in the morning my mom came into my room. Not too early, except I had planned to sleep in longer. She said "Emma it would be a good time to wake up for three reasons. 1 You have summer house chores to do. 2 You have the ACT to study for. Oh and 3 One of your bunnies mysteriously got out. Now your cat is tormenting it as they chase each other around the pool." I awoke immediately, jolted out of bed. My mom continued "Emma, there is no need to rush. What could happen?" What could happen!!!! My cat could get hungry, there is a hole in my fence and I could lose my bunny forever, there are birds that could carry it away, and neighboring dogs could jump over the fence! Okay I was over reacting a bit because I have not really been getting the right of amount of sleep. So I went to my backyard and there is my bunny flying on the ground with my cat right behind. Great thing that my cat really is a kindred spirit and would not hurt a bunny. Yet my morning had just began.
I ran straight outside, without foot protection. My cat, who loves me dearly came right to me. I first went to investigate if the gap in the fence was covered. No it was not. So I got my fire place lid and covered it. Then I started to see if the bunny would just come to me as the cat did. Remember I am deprived of sleep. No free bunny would come running to me, to just be put in a cage. After 10 minuets of no such luck, I called for back up. My mom. Yet my mom is not an animal person. In fact it is very strange that I have the pets I have. She has even threatened that if I get another pet she would move out. I requested for her help. She replyed saying "I have to do some work inside." and "I don't want to touch the creature.". Yet reluctantly she came to my aid. Then went straight to weeding. I was floored, I needed help! Reviewing this makes me laugh so hard. Well she began to tell me about if I would rather be weeding or chasing my bunny here and there. Uh I would rather weed! I would believe she too would rather weed. Hence why she was pulling the weeds at that moment. Then as I continued to chase the bunny, now with appropriate shoes, she warned me not to step anywhere there were weeds. Well that was virtually impossible. Well I did something I usually do not like to do. I gave up. So my bunny and cat played. In the end of their play date my cat was more afraid then the bunny. I do occasionally let my bunnies out. When my brother-in-laws are here, they have a funny competition trying to catch them. I have a bunny catching device at hand for times like this, but of course my parents had cleaned the garage just the Saturday before and I did not know where it was to be found. So I had my mom call my dad to see if he knew where it could be. When she finally reached him at his work her conversation went like this "I have three reasons why I am calling you" (Again with the three reason). "1 Since we switched to Utopia our phones have been doing weird things." I called out saying BUNNY!!!! BUNNY IS THE SUBJECT AND REASON FOR THE CALL!!! Onward with her conversation "2nd reason: I have a lot of yard work planned to do today, I hope to get things done, with all my new free time" I said! BUNNY, WE NEED TO FOCUS ON THE BUNNY! Then Mom said " Oh and 3rd the bunny is in the yard, where is the catching contraption." You can see where my mother's prioritize are. HAHA my mom is the best. She makes me laugh all day long. Yet during the whole ordeal I did not think it to be so funny. Yet with sleep and writing my story, I have realized just how funny it really is. In the end, after a hour or so, the bunny was safe and sound in his cage. I don't understand why it would rather hop around freely in the open air, then stay in its two roomed house. Just tricking as my niece would say. Hey I wonder how long my bunny was out!
So that is my life for you. At least one strand in the quilt of my life, so remeber. Life does not always follow writing rules. Yet it never stops leaving you smiling at the end of the day.
SO LIVE LONG AND PROSPER,
EMMA!

Summer Life!
This is Emma speaking. Well I have had a great few days! Yesterday was kinda the last day of school. After attending the "lastish" day of school, I was thinking to myself that my mind did not realize it was the last day of school. Well to celebrate a year of school, my friends planned a sleepover! During the last week, together we planned a "feast" week. In seminary we have these feast weeks and read a hour of scriptures a night! Mariah was away in Disneyland (lucky! I wish I could live there!) so she missed the last feast week. So we decided to hold our own feast week. It was great! Yet after all the reading we were not done. Feast week would not be feast week without a party to celebrate! Okay I must explain something. My amazing mom is teaching seminary at our high school. She teaches the special needs class and I had the privilege to help her! It was wonderful! Well so we held our feast week at the seminary building in my mom's room, which is perfect and where it should be held. So that was way fun. I hope if anyone reads this finds joy in it..... I just like writing it so I can look back and smile! :D We also went to the John Schmidt concert which was fantastic! He is so talented and hilarious. Then we had the sleepover and stayed awake till 3:20.... Yet today I don't feel tired.
So today school was almost optional. We were not obliged to go, but were welcome to come. So we went! We brought paper to write notes as we asked our teachers the most valuable life lesson they could share with us. It was super! I learned a lot of great things. I am very pleased with my first year of high school. It was wonderful. SO THAT'S WHY MY START TO SUMMER IS THE BEST! :D
Thanks for listening!
Emma

The Touch of the Master's Hand
It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
Hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
"What am I bid, good people," he cried,
"Who starts the bidding for me?"
"One dollar, one dollar, do I hear two?"
"Two dollars, who makes it three?"
"Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three."
But, no,
From the room far back a gray bearded man
Came forward and picked up the bow,
Then wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as the angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said "What now am I bid for this old violin?"
As he held it aloft with its bow.
"One thousand, one thousand, do I hear two?"
"Two thousand, who makes it three?"
"Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
Going and gone," said he.
The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
"We just don't understand."
"What changed its worth?"
Swift came the reply.
"The touch of the Master's hand."
And many a man with life out of tune,
All battered with bourbon and gin,
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd,
Much like that old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on.
He is going once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the touch of a Master's hand.
